Yep, that's right -- Steven Fromholz' Sister. . .
Hideeeee....
News Flash -- See Steven & Sis' new book at the bottom of this page -- we're mighty proud of it!
Hope the new year is treatin' y'all right -- things goin' pretty good here at the ranch. First of all a big thank you for ordering Steven's new Cd "Texas Trilogy Goes to G'Nashville" -- the response has been tremendous and appreciated. The folks at the post office are thinkin' about just putting a cot in the lobby for me as I'm there a whole lot mailin' Cds to y'all.
Next on our list of what's happening right now is our new book "Look Dammit...That's Just Texas!" It's the first time Steven and I have teamed up on our writing and Esteban Publishing is gettin' the little jewel out there to the general public. A brief synopsis of what's included is some stories and poetry by Steven and a few of my short stories -- some true and some fiction. Our trial readers tell us it's a pretty decent read so hope you'll honor us by purchasing a copy. It's available in soft cover/hard copy and also as an ebook from the publishing site http://www.blurb.com. -- a warning: I downloaded the ebook easily but had trouble opening it (found out you have to click on the book picture and enlarge it or don't nothin' work -- including the shopping cart!) Don't be expecting the World Book Encyclopedia -- it's just under 80 pages.
Another book is in the works, as we speak and it'll be titled "In the Music Business You Dance Alone" -- we'll give you more info on that on down the road as it gets closer to publication.

We've been the go-fer person in our brother's entourage for some years now -- generally known as "Sis" and takin' care of Brother's music bid-ness! We push the pencil, keep the books, mail the Cds, book the gigs, websling the websites, etc., etc. When we're not doing that we're a freelance writer, author, musician, publisher and whatever happens next that catches our interest. We usually (when asked) describe ourselves as follows:
Senior Citizen with attitude, chronic sense of humor, lofty ideals and somewhat opinionated. Has been known to challenge most norms and suffer from intensely bad hair. Short on patience and long of tooth but generally plays well with others if not overly provoked. Published author, songwriter, web slinger, history buff, white water rafter, trail rider, musician and numerous other non-income generating interests. Intensely Texan, pro-gun, anti-AARP and vocal on all three subjects. Challenged by electronics, map reading, all children and most men. Often writes for beans, travels at the drop of a Stetson, and considered somewhat eccentric by those with pre-conceived notions of folks over 70-years-old. Claims without doubt, her friend, the late Molly Ivins, was a
tremendous influence on her writing style, hence the occasional "dear hearts" in her writing. Ms. Blair explains the strange name of her personal website thusly: After many years in the music business, her name morphed into "Steven Fromholz' Sister." She's tremendously proud of her brother and doesn't object at all to the name change. In fact, she's decided to run with her "generic name" designation; hence the name of her website http://www.stevenfromholzsister.com.
A bit about what we do and for whom we do it...
Music Maven Productions, is owned by Angela Blair and is the "mama bear" in our group of companies. It's the umbrella over the rest of the group and is the entity that does all Steven Fromholz' booking, travel arrangements, personal appearances, assists with Cd art and design, office work, mailing, record keeping, marketing/promotion and builds/webslings internet sites for both Brother and Sis.
Esteban Publishingis our very own little publishing venture. To date we've published Steven's "Texas Trilogy" book -- the year he was named Poet Laureate of Texas -- and our newest publication "Look Dammit...That's Just Texas!" Our newest effort is written by both Steven and this Old Sister and a lot of fun. Check it out below.
Laughing Bear Entertainment, a partnership, is the newest member of our little group and is engaged in the production/marketing/advertising and promotion of Cds. Steven Fromholz' "Texas Trilogy Goes to G'Nashville" is the first release under the Laughing Bear Entertainment banner.
Blair House Studios is the freelance author arm under the Music Maven Production umbrella and provides a platform for Sis to write, edit, ghost write and design/administrate websites for other people. She also does graphic arts, marketing/advertising/promotion and a host of services for the general public which include not only individual clients but also clubs and civic organizations. She specializes in turning family trees/histories into family "stories" -- meaning a small, medium or large book depending on how much historical information a family has (and the size of the family so everyone can be included). This is a great idea to keep a family's history together generation by generation. It's also a chance to get all those old family stories written down for posterity.
Big Hat - No Cattle News is a tongue-in-cheek newspaper/blog which laughs, rants, raves and makes fun of most anyone and anything. The format of the paper is tall tales, Texas history and really -- all things Texas -- whatever that may be from clever quotes to hoof-in-mouth disease. Still in it's formative stages, the paper is free to take off in any direction that seems fun at the time! We're even considering running some classified ads -- not dum-dums- the real thing but we'll let you know on that one.
Angela Blair wears a hat for each of the companies above, is a published author and freelance writer with work appearing on the internet, newspapers, magazines (Forbes Magazine in August, 2011) and has written a novel "When the Sun Hits the Land." She is associated with the Authors Guild of America, attended the University of Texas at Tyler and on occasion presents music programs for children playing banjo and guitar and performing old cowboy trail songs. Her writing may be found on www.angelablair/hubpages.com and www.angelablair/helium.com where readers will find over 100 short stories she has authored.
You'll probably notice that we write just like we talk -- a bit of Texanese (actually it's just plain 'ol country anyway you cut it). In times past we got off the porch and hunted with the big dogs for a while but came back home 'cause we like it here. We were born and raised in Kopperl, Bosque County, Texas (yep, that's the little town our brother Steven Fromholz' epic song "The Texas Trilogy" was based on) and although we don't live in Kopperl now -- we are back in Bosque County -- kinda like "hey, honey -- I'm home!"
Gonna switch gears now -- often queried as to what I do (as I live alone with a big, black dog named "Bubba" and drive an old Ford Ranger pick 'em up truck named "Debra Jean") I always say "The dog and the truck maintain my redneck status (there's a real story behind the 'redneck' designation -- if I can figure out how to say it without being too profane I'll share it with you one day). . . and I'm retired!"
Retired? Yeah -- right! Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you'll join us often.
